Joe Lewis Clay, 56, of Rockford was called home Tuesday, July 20, 2021, in Rockford. Born April 2, 1965, in Rockford, the son of Joe Harrington and Emma Lee (Graham) Harrington-Clay. Attended Auburn High School. Employed by James Thomas Construction for several years. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Joe would always say “Love and Peace”. Survivors include his sons, Joseph Threadgill and Laytwan Porter; daughter, Latysha Threadgill; mother, Emma Clay; several grandchildren; brother, Allen Clay; sisters, Carolyn Clay, Tammy (Odell) Tidwell, Maryann Harrington and Ann Harrington; nephews, Deon Hudson, Anthony White, Eric Clay, Rashic Clay, Cornelius Clay, Jamar Clay, William Peyton and Thomas Brooks; a host of relatives; and good friend, Dean Bell. Predeceased by his daughter, Kaja; son, Marcel; maternal grandparents, Willie and Lillie Graham; father; brothers, Curtis Williams and Cornealius Clay; sisters, Barbara Ann Clay, Diane Clay, Angela Clay and Shinette Clay.
Memorial service at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 7, 2021, in Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park, with memorial visitation from noon to service time. Cremation rites accorded.
