JoAnn “Joan” Carolyn Dunnett, 81, of Roscoe passed away Saturday, April 15, 2017. Born December 7, 1935, in Rockford, the daughter of Hilmer “Al” and Alice (Eaton) Thoren. Attended Rockford schools, graduating from East High School, Class of 1953. Married Eugene “Gene” G. Dunnett on February 4, 1956, in Rockford. Joan was a bookkeeper for various business during her career, spending the greatest share of time at Highland Floral Company and National Car Rental. She always enjoyed singing and participated with the Mendelssohn Chorus, Lutheran Chorale Union, Rockford Symphony Chorale, Riverside Community Church choir, the We Sing Chorus and the First Congregational Church of Roscoe choir. Joan was a community volunteer with W.A.V.E., the AIDS Care Network and Child Evangelism Fellowship. She was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and crocheted baby blankets and scarves to donate. Member of the MYCA Bible study group and the First Congregational Church of Roscoe. Survivors include her son, Daryl (Yvonne) Dunnett of Oak Lawn; daughter, Deonne (Patty Goodin) Dunnett of Bradenton, FL; and granddaughter, Michelle Dunnett of Loves Park. Predeceased by her parents; husband, Gene on June 5, 2006; grandson, TJ Anders. Many thanks to her compassionate caregivers at North Pointe Terrace and Heartland Hospice.
Memorial service at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 22, in First Congregational Church, 10780 3rd Street, Roscoe, with visitation from 10 a.m. to service time. Private entombment in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
