Joan Kusler

Joan Marie Kusler, 80, of Loves Park entered into eternal rest Tuesday, May 16, 2017. Born December 16, 1936, in Rockford, the daughter of Armour and Fern (Rogers) Ostrom.  Graduated from Rockford East High School and St. Anthony School of Nursing in 1957.  Married Clyde D. Kusler on June 11, 1960, in Rockford.  Employed by Rockford Health Systems for 20 years.  Member of Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd and the Red Hat Society.  She helped establish Northern Illinois Hospice.  Avid Chicago Cubs fan.  Joan enjoyed attending her children and grandchildren’s sporting events.  Survivors include her husband, Clyde; sons, Jeff (Kathy) Kusler and Kyle (Sheila) Kusler; grandchildren, Stephen, Mackenzie, Cory and Whitney; several nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by her parents; and brother, Roger Ostrom.  The family wishes to thank the nursing staff at Rockford Memorial Hospital for their care and compassion.

Service at 11 a.m. Monday, May 22, in Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 1829 N. Rockton Ave., Rockford, with visitation from 10 a.m. to service time. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.  Arrangements by Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., Loves Park.
