Joan Christopherson

Joan D. Christopherson, 86, of Loves Park passed away Saturday, August 20, 2016, in Serenity Hospice & Homes, Oregon, IL. Born February 22, 1930, in Marinette, WI, the daughter of Melvin and Bertha (Linser) Benson. Married John H. "Jack" Christopherson on November 21, 1952. Employed as food service manager at Harlem Schools for 28 years, retiring in 1995. Active member of Grace Lutheran Church. Lifelong Cubs fan. Survivors include her sons, Dennis (Debi) and Don Christopherson; grandchildren, Jennifer (Matt) Riedel and Gavin (Kacy) Christopherson; great-grandchildren, Olivia and Cole; brother, Richard (Adelia) Benson; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband; infant son, Steven; brothers, Melvin Benson, Jr., and Wayne Benson; sisters, Nancy Ahlquist and Betsy Faherty. Special thanks to the nurses and staff at Serenity Hospice & Homes.

Memorial service at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 27, in Grace Lutheran Church, 343 Grand Ave., Loves Park, with visitation from 10 a.m. to service time. Arrangements by Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., Loves Park.
