Jean Thies

Jean A. Thies, 89, of Loves Park passed away Tuesday, August 9, 2016. Born August 6, 1927, in Rockford, the daughter of Merle and Myrtle (Reid) Finley. Married Donald C. Thies on Sunday, September 1, 1946, in Rockford. Jean loved to bowl, participating in numerous leagues in the area. Member of Macktown Ladies Golf and an avid Chicago Cub fan. Survivors include her children, John (LaRae) Thies, Bill Thies, Tom (Karen) Thies, and Patti Thies; grandchildren, Charlie (Morgan) Thies, Kim Palmer, Kristi Schaffer, Dustin, Nicholas Zack and Kari Thies, Amanda Navrro, Becki and Jake Roe; numerous great-grandchildren; sister, Joyce (Donald) Hyson; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband; daughter, Sue Johnson; and several brothers and sisters.

Service at 11 a.m., Monday, August 15, in Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation from 3 to 5 p.m., Sunday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
