Janet Ellen Bainbridge

Janet “Jan” Ellen Bainbridge, 77, of Loves Park, IL, passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, in her home. Born on Wednesday, July 7, 1948, in Milwaukee, WI, the daughter of William Alfred and Marie Louise (Krause) Hartman. Employed as a kindergarten teacher by the Harlem School District for 34 years, retiring in 2004. She was a book club member who loved reading. Jan enjoyed knitting, traveling, and spending summers at the family’s much loved lake house from childhood through adulthood at Long Lake in Clintonville, WI. Survivors include her brother, Jim (Ginger) Hartman; sister, Ruth Turner; nieces and nephews, Jean (Brad Krepps) Mycynek, Steve (Rima) Mycynek, Elena (Adam) Longman, and Anna Turner; great-niece and -nephews, Elliot and Garrison Krepps, Turner, Ezra, and Asher Longman, and Ashna Mycynek; former husband and special friend, William Bainbridge. Predeceased by her parents; sister, Marion Mycynek; brothers-in-law, Vic Mycynek and Rudy Turner; sister-in-law, Leslie Hartman.

Memorial service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 8, 2026, in Delehanty Funeral Home, 401 River Lane, Loves Park, with visitation from 10 a.m. to service time. Cremation rites accorded. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Northern Illinois Foodbank or Lutheran Church Charities.
