James W. Try, 72, of Rockford passed away Sunday, September 17, 2017. Born July 19, 1945, in Rockford, the son of John D. and Doris (Smith) Try. After his mother’s passing, he was raised by his father and stepmother, Dora. Married Carol “Lynn” Jacobs on April 23, 1966, in Rockford. Employed by Gunite (now Accuride Truck Components) for almost 40 years. James loved sports, especially golf, bowling, and fishing. He was also an avid Chicago Bears and Cubs fan. Survivors include wife, Carol “Lynn” Try; son, Jeremy (Casey) Try; daughter, Kendra (Chris) Try; grandchildren, Ashley, Jesse, Krikyn, and Leo; sisters, Betty (Greg) Scalise and Nancy Try; numerous nieces and nephews; and longtime special friends, Joe and Judy Hamilton. Predeceased by parents; siblings, Jack, Joyce, Jeanette, George, and Dale.
Memorial visitation from 1 to 2 p.m., Thursday, September 21, in Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
