James Earl Moore, 94, of Machesney Park finished his race and went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 13, 2017. Born May 9, 1922, in Eupora, MS, the son of Lee and Lula Lucinda Moore. He proudly served his country during World War II as an airplane mechanic in the U.S. Navy. Married Mildred Earline Morgan on November 14, 1946, in Marked Tree, AR; she preceded him in death on July 22, 1985. He later married Elsie Newboles; she preceded him in death in May 2012. Employed by J.L. Clark for 33 years as a machinist, retiring in 1985. Member of Riverside Assembly of God. Having been raised on a farm, James enjoyed being outdoors and gardening all his life. Survivors include his children, Rev. James (Kathy) Moore, Brenda (Russell) Bradley, Danny (Mary) Moore, Rev. Keith (Debbie) Moore and Cindy (Allen) Klawonn; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and brother, Luther (AnnaSue) Moore. Predeceased by his parents; 3 brothers; 2 sisters; and great-grandson, Matthew Riley Short.
Service at 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 16, 2017, in Riverside Assembly of God, 4242 West Riverside Blvd., Rockford, with visitation from 9:30 a.m. to service time. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., Loves Park.
