James K. McEachran, 66, of Machesney Park passed away peacefully Thursday, December 14, 2017, in the arms of Ruthanne and surrounded by his family. Born June 27, 1951, in Rockford, son of Ken and Iris J. (McDonald) McEachran. Jim was a proud Veteran of the U.S. Army. Jim owned and operated the Ken McEachran Insurance Agency in Loves Park for many years. Jim was a member of the Parks Chamber, served on the Young at Heart Committee running the Fishing Derby for many years and was former president of the Loves Park Lion’s Club and Independent Insurance Agents. He was a Shriner and 33rd Degree Mason. An avid Green Bay Packers fan and Wisconsin Badger fan. Jim enjoyed the outdoors especially golfing, boating, hunting and fishing, participating in several Deep-Sea Fishing Tournaments. He also shot trap at Plug and Pellet and was a sponsor of the Boy Scouts Fall Shoot. One of his greatest joys was watching the birds and wildlife outside of his window. Survivors include his wife, Ruthanne Markunas; sister, Sylvia (Gary) Batty; brother, John (Pamela) McEachran; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved beagles, Neven and Maggie. Predeceased by his parents; brother, Donald E. Petit; and sister-in-law, Carol Petit.
Service 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 20, 2017, in Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park, with visitation from 1 p.m. to service time. Burial in Argyle Scottish Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family.
