James “Jim” E. Littell
James “Jim” E. Littell, 78, of South Beloit passed away Friday, May 13, 2022, in his home, surrounded by his family. Born October 27, 1943, in Bloomington, the son of Frank L. and Helen R. (King) Littell. Following high school, Jim enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he proudly served his country for three years aboard the USS Boston. He worked his way to Boatswain mate 3rd class. He then worked for the City of Rockford Fire Department as a driver engineer for 30 years, retiring in 1995. Married Sharon A. Callea on October 3, 1987, in Rockton. Member of the American Legion, Moose, and USS Boston Shipmates. Lifelong Packer Backer and die-hard Cubs fan. He enjoyed showing his 1971 Chevelle SS at local car shows. Jim was an avid golfer who especially enjoyed playing Swanhills. He always looked forward to his morning coffee with the guys and Thursday morning golf league with his buddies. Survivors include his loving wife of 35 years, Sharon; daughter, Michele (Efrain) Garcia; grandchildren, Randy King, Taylor (Brandon) King, and Justin Spires; brother, Kendall Johnson. Predeceased by his parents; sons, Marc J. Littell and Craig Spires; and brothers, Brian C. Taylor and Wendell K. Johnson.
Graveside service at 11:30 a.m. Friday, May 20, 2022, in Willwood Burial Park, 7000 West State Street, Rockford. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Arrangements by Delehanty Funeral Home, 401 River Lane, Loves Park.
