James “Jim” Arlen Brown, 87, of Rockford passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2022, in his home. Born January 21, 1935, in Patterson, Illinois, the son of Hulbert and Grace (Willis) Brown. Married Linda Thompson on May 12, 1956. Employed by the State of Illinois as a plumbing inspector, retiring at 80 years old. Attended Forest City Church, formerly Heartland Community Church. Jim enjoyed feeding the birds and squirrels. He loved the sun and ocean in Florida. Jim enjoyed gambling with his wife in Las Vegas while visiting their son. He also loved the St. Louis Cardinals Baseball. Survivors include his wife, Linda; children, Steven (Connie), Stuart (Paula), and Kelly (Todd); grandchildren, Derek, Devin, Brenna (Eddie), Alec, Olivia, Kolbi, and Melissa; great-grandchildren, Arabella and Kylian; faithful canine companion, Ginger. Predeceased by his parents; and sisters, Iona, Gene, and Wanda.
Visitation from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, April 10, 2022, in Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park. Cremation rites accorded. Inurnment at a later date in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
