Ida Brown

Ida Ruth (Floyd) Brown, of Beloit, WI, departed this life at the age of 100 years old at Autumn Lake Healthcare in Beloit, WI, on Tuesday, June 24, 2025.  Born May 11, 1925, in Pontotoc, MS, the daughter of Price Floyd and Dottie Bell (Armstrong) Floyd.

Ruth confessed her life to Christ at an early age and joined College Hill AME Church where she remained a faithful member.  Upon graduating from high school, Ruth moved to Los Angeles, CA, to attend school to earn her nursing degree.  She was faithful to her family, especially to her uncle, Harvey Raymond Floyd, of Gary, IN.

Ruth met the love of her life, Samuel Brown in 1954, and they remained together until his death in 2003.  She was also preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Annie G. Floyd and Callie Mildred Floyd Miles.  She leaves to cherish her memories, special cousins, Maggie Lockridge, Mary Rucker, Terry and Sheila Wilson, Beverly King, Linda Jones and other relatives and friends.

Psalms 3:5-6.  "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not to your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths."

The family of Ida Ruth Floyd Brown would like to thank the staff of Autumn Lake Healthcare for their outstanding assistance to Ruth during her stay with them.  In addition, a special thank you to Leanne Sullivan, Activities Director at Autumn Lake Healthcare, for the extraordinary attention and care she gave to Ruth.  Also, the support of the Beloit Regional Hospice was very much appreciated during her final journey.

Private inurnment in Riverside Community Church Memorial Garden, Machesney Park, IL.  Arrangements by Delehanty Funeral Home, 401 River Lane, Loves Park, IL.  Ruth was known to greet everyone with her unique saying, "GOD BLESS YOU."
