Howard L. Drye Sr.

Howard L. Drye, Sr., 82, of Machesney Park, IL, passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at Medina Nursing Center, Durand, IL, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on Tuesday, October 5, 1943, in Monroe, WI, the son of Howard W. and Edna (Truitt) Drye. He grew up on a farm and he loved to farm. Howard was a U.S. Army veteran. He married Marsha G. Masters on April 15, 1972. Howard was a retired truck driver. He was an avid NASCAR fan and a fan of Dale Earnhardt, Sr. Howard loved fishing. Survivors include his children, Howard L. (Annette) Drye, Jr., Michelle (Rick Hagen) Plescia, Gary Drye, and Catherine (Michael Crawford) Drye; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Eldora (Melvin) Welch and Mary Ellen (Dennis) Parker; several cousins; and special friend, Joyce Peterson. Predeceased by his parents; wife, Marsha; and siblings, Fred, Melvin, Leo, Charles and Clyde.

Memorial service at noon Saturday, July 11, 2026, at Delehanty Funeral Home, 401 River Lane, Loves Park, IL, with visitation from 11 a.m. to service time. Cremation rites accorded. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
