Hildegard J. Hoover-DeBella
Hildegard J. Hoover-DeBella, 94, of Rockford, IL, passed away Saturday, Feb. 4, 2023. Born March 10, 1928, in Wiesbaden, Germany, the daughter of Joseph and Barbara (Vollmer) Hoelzer. Entered the United States on December 23, 1948. Married Royce Hoover in February 1949, in Dayton, Ohio. Employed by Stouffer Food Corporation in Cleveland, Ohio, and Atlanta, GA., for 35 years. Moved to Rockford in February 1978. Married Samuel “Sammy” F. DeBella on August 5, 1989, in Rockford. Employed by Forest Hills Country Club for 8 years and Woodward Governor for 7 years, retiring in 1992. Member of Holy Family Catholic Church and Forest Hills County Club. Hildegard was a woman of style, grace and was a dear friend to many. She was especially grateful for her friendship with the late Dr. Ida Brechtel. Hildegard enjoyed socializing, traveling, dancing, the symphony, theater, and her wellness classes. She adored her fur babies, Heidi and Schnappsy. Survivors include nephew, Ralph Giesert; niece, Hildegard (Dr. Ralph) Gutedel; and great-nephews, Christian Gutedel and Alexander Gutedel, all of Brechenheim, Germany. Predeceased by her parents; sister, Maria; brother, Hans; and both husbands.
Mass of Christian burial at 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10, 2023, in Holy Family Catholic Church, 4401 Highcrest Road, Rockford. Cremation rites accorded. Inurnment in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements by Delehanty Funeral Home, Loves Park.
