Harry R. Heidenreich, 79, of Mesa, AZ, formerly of Loves Park, IL, passed away Sunday, May 22, 2016, in his home, after a long and courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his family. Harry was born November 26, 1936, in Freeport, IL, the son of Earl and Helen (Jacobs) Heidenreich. He was raised in Byron, IL, and graduated from Byron High School in 1954. He began working at Barber-Colman in 1955 and worked there as an industrial engineer for 42 years before retiring in 1997. Harry loved serving his Loves Park community as a volunteer firefighter, captain and assistant chief for 25 years before retiring. He married the love of his life, Peggy Keith on March 15, 1957. They lived their love story for 59 years. After retiring, he moved to Mesa to enjoy the warmth and sun year round. He loved to travel and traveled the world with Peggy. He enjoyed taking care of his yard, playing games, camping, grilling and spending time with family. He was proud of and dearly loved his children and grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Peggy of Mesa; daughter, Diana (Dale) Schumacher of Hartford, WI; son, Dan (Vicky) Heidenreich of Machesney Park, IL; grandson, Eric Heidenreich of Austin, TX; granddaughter, Caitlin Heidenreich of Machesney Park; brothers, Gene and Robert, both of Byron; sister, Marion Webb of Benson, AZ; special nieces, Rhonda (Tony) Stagliano of Monroe, WI, and Kathy (Don) Hanson of Mesa; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents and sister, Lucille Meier.
Service at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, June 2, in Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 1, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Cancer Society.
