Gordon Breit

Gordon R. Breit, 93, of Loves Park departed this life Saturday, February 18, 2017. Born August 20, 1923, in Milwaukee, WI, the son of Adolph and Selma (Kowske) Breitkreitz.  Veteran of the U.S. Army and saw action at the Battle of the Bulge.  Married Geraldine M. Case on June 14, 1947 and had two sons, Larry G. and James R. Breit.  Later married Eleanor R. Bird in 1965; she predeceased him in 2000.  Owner and operator of Breit Electric for over 50 years, retiring in 2012.  Member of First Evangelical Free Church, Masonic Lodge #1145, and was a lifetime member of the Loves Park VFW Post #9759.  Gordon was a tournament bowler for 23 seasons.  He enjoyed boating on the Rock and Mississippi Rivers.  Gordon frequently enjoyed a good cookout at his or a friend’s house.  Survivors include 2 sons, James (Leslie) and Larry (Kathie); stepdaughters, Julie (Jim) Cannegieter, Pat (Roger) Larkin, June Gould and Mary Gould; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Service at 11 a.m., Wednesday, February 22,   in Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park, with visitation from 10 a.m. to time of service.  Entombment in Sunset Memorial Gardens.  In lieu of flowers, memorial to be established.  For more information, visit delehantyfh.com.
