Gloria Stites

Gloria R. Stites, 85, of Rockford passed away Sunday, January 27, 2019. Born September 22, 1933, in Rockford, the daughter of Eugene M. and Opal Ella (Davis) Murphy, Sr. Married Earl L. Stites on June 14, 1952, in Rockford. Employed by Top Hat Restaurant, retiring after many years. Member of Roscoe VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She loved bowling, golfing, traveling and word puzzles. Survivors include her daughters, Cathy Lightheart and Penny (David) Ulven; grandchildren, Kimberly (James) Kern, Joshua Ulven, Angela Lightheart and Jennifer (Timothy) Williams; great-grandchildren, Jared Kern, Emily Kern, Izrael Bates and Kiera Tarlton; sister, Betty; brother, Glenn; sister-in-law, Jane Fulton; numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband; and grandson, Cody Boardman. The family wishes to thank River Bluff Nursing Home for their loving care.

Service at 11 a.m. Friday, February 1, in Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park, with visitation from 10 a.m. to service time. Burial in Willwood Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
