Glenn E. Throndsen, 86, of Rockton died Tuesday, August 22, 2017. Born December 12, 1930, in Arcadia, WI, the son of Clifford E. and Laura (Hertzfeldt) Throndsen. Graduated from Arcadia High School. Married the love of his life, Marlet Jean Grotjahn on September 26, 1950. They moved to the Rockford area in 1955, where he was employed by Fridh Corporation. Was manager of Foresco Lighting store for many years. Glenn and Marlet founded and operated G & M Appliance Repair for many years prior to their son, Bruce, now continuing the business. Former member of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd. Current member of Grace Lutheran Church. He loved singing in the church choirs. Glenn was active for many years in the Boy Scouts; serving as scout master at one time. He was instrumental in forming the West Gateway Coalition. Survivors include his wife, Marlet; sons, Ronald (Chris) Throndsen, James (Sandie) Throndsen, Steven (Susan) Throndsen and Bruce (Sandra) Throndsen; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents; brothers, Robert Throndsen and Lloyd Throndsen; and grandsons, Scott Tacy and Roger Throndsen.
Service at 11 a.m. Monday, August 28, in Grace Lutheran Church, 343 Grand Ave., Loves Park, with visitation from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Grace Lutheran Church Choir or charity of your choice. Arrangements by Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., of Loves Park.
