Geraldine Bunk

Geraldine I. Bunk, 86, of Machesney Park passed away Monday, February 1, 2021, in her home.  Born September 3, 1934, in Rockford, the daughter of Wilbur L. and Cora Ruth (Faulkner) Halbin.  Married Leonard M. Bunk on May 4, 1957, in Rockford.  Employed as a manager at Pizza Hut.  Member of St. Bridget Catholic Church.  She was a Girl Scout Leader.  Geraldine was a dog breeder and past member of Forest City Dog Club in which one of them was a Great Dane who later became a therapy dog.  She enjoyed camping, knitting, crocheting, and taking care of her grandchildren.  Survivors include her son, Tim (Teri) Bunk; daughter, Teri Bunk-Schmit; grandchildren, Carolyn (Juan) Torales, Chelsea (Matt) Schmit-Windmoeller, Nicholas (Amanda) Schmit, Andrea (Kurt Thingvold) Bunk, and Jennifer (Tim Huckabee) Bunk; many great-grandchildren; and sister, Barbara (Earl) Judd.  Predeceased by her husband; and granddaughter, Natalie Schmit.

Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Friday, February 5, 2021, in St. Bridget Catholic Church, 600 Clifford Ave., Loves Park.  Burial in Willwood Burial Park.  Walk through visitation from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Friday, in Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park.  In lieu of flowers, a memorials to PAWS Humane Society of Rockford in Geraldine’s name.
