Gerald Siegrist

Gerald “Gary” Keith Siegrist, 89, of Caledonia, IL, passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2023. Born June 28, 1933, in Kirkville, IA, to Howard and Vivian (Akins) Siegrist and relocated to Rockford, IL, in 1963. Gary dedicated his entire working career to Sutherland Lumber Company, where he met his future wife and worked 45 years until retirement. He married Marlene Runge on November 17, 1973. Gary was a hard-working perfectionist that took excellent care of his property. In his younger days, he enjoyed riding his horses and traveling with his wife, visiting Europe, Hawaii, Alaska, and taking many road trips out west to visit family and spend time in Vail, Colorado, in their vacation home. In later years, he also spent a portion of winter in Florida. He was well-respected in the workplace and served as a great example to his children, teaching them the value of hard work and taking pride in their work. Gary was also an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. Survivors include his wife, Marlene; children, Rick (Bonnie) Siegrist, Kim (Rich) Siegrist Plante, Teresa Siegrist-Sigala, Sherry Helman, Jerry (Heather) Hickey, and Susan Rivas; 14 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; and sister, Sue Hill. Predeceased by his parents; and sister, Marilyn Ambrose.

As per Gary's request, no services will be held. Cremation rites accorded. Arrangements by Delehanty Funeral Home, 401 River Lane, Loves Park, IL.
