Georgia Sams

Georgia A. Sams, 69, of Rockford transitioned to heaven Tuesday, November 23, 2021.  Born August 30, 1952, in Lake Village, AR, the daughter of Lattimore and Annie (Poe) Pearson, Jr.  Member of Christian Union Missionary Baptist Church.  Georgia loved spending time with family with a big smile on her face.  She enjoyed old movies, music and playing cards.  Survivors include her parents, Lattimore and Annie Pearson, Jr.; two sons, Gregory Sams of Oklahoma, and Victor Smith of Loves Park; grandchildren, Jameireona Sams; four sisters, Ramona (Kevin) Fouse of St. Louis, MO, Toni (Jerry) Paige, and Leicia (Charlie) Brown, both of Rockford, and Kimberly (Daryl) Purifoy of Machesney Park; three brothers, Michael (Rose) Pearson, Ronald (Joyce) Pearson, and Lattimore (Gloria) Pearson, III, all of Rockford; numerous nieces and nephews; special friends, Anna Hughes and Valorie Miller.  Predeceased by one son, Eric Sams; and her loving companion, Gregory Smith.  Special thanks to Tracy Hopson for his loving care and always being there for her.

Service at 1 p.m. Thursday, December 2, 2021, in Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park, with visitation from noon to service time.  Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in her name.
