George H. Johns, 64, of Rockford, IL, passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2023. Born September 28, 1958, in Rockford, the son of Harold Thomas and Helen Agnes (Slavin) Johns. Graduated from Harlem High School, Class of 1977. Owned and operated Northwest Machinery and The Hammer Exchange for many years. George enjoyed attending auctions and car racing events. Survivors include his aunt, Anne Slavin-Desmond; cousins, David Desmond, Timothy (Sally) Desmond, Mary Seisser, Matthew Seisser, William (Elaine) Johns, Mary (Mike) Puckett, John (Mary) Church, Greg (Marie) Church, Rita Luetscher, and Tom (Audrey) Luetscher; several other family members; racing buddy, Andy Rodriguez; and lifelong friend, Adam Nimtz. Predeceased by his parents.
Memorial service at 2 p.m. Friday, February 3, 2023, at Delehanty Funeral Home, 401 River Lane, Loves Park, IL. Cremation rites accorded. Inurnment at a later date in Saint Josephs Cemetery, Harvard, IL. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
