Genevieve “Gienia” Borowski, 96, of Rockford, IL, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, September 29, 2024. Born March 28, 1928, in Poland, the daughter of Wladyslaw and Paulina (Komenda) Jaworowski. Lived 61 years in the Rockford area, coming here from Poland. She married Klemens Borowski on April 18, 1949, in Poland. Employed by Warner Lambert for 25 years, retiring in 1990. Member of St. Bridget Catholic Church and Society of Mercy. Giena enjoyed playing cards, cooking, sewing, gardening, traveling with Pilgrimages and taking care of her grandchildren. She was a devoted Catholic with her love for the rosary. Survivors include her sons, Ted (Halina) Borowski, and Tony (Margaret) Borowski; grandchildren, Darrick (Betsy) Borowski, Barbara (Patrick) Borowski-Kennedy, Violet (Brian) Borowski-Romanowski, Teresa Borowski, and Peter (Christina) Borowski; great-grandchildren, Berrit and Astrid; sister, Mieczyslawa Borowska; many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents; husband; brother, Adolf Jaworowski; sister, Ella Wojewodzki; and granddaughter, Angela Marie Borowski.
Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Friday, October 4, 2024, at St. Bridget Catholic Church, 600 Clifford Ave., Loves Park, IL, with visitation from 9:30 a.m. to service time. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Delehanty Funeral Home, 401 River Lane, Loves Park.
