Genet Sibley

March 5, 1930 — November 17, 2021

Genet P. Sibley, 91, of Loves Park passed away Wednesday, November 17, 2021, in Liberty Village, Freeport.  Born March 5, 1930, in Sheffield, Alabama, the daughter of Oscar and Ollie Pearl (Wilbanks) Sibley.  Genet, along with her mother, Ollie, and younger sister, Mary, moved to Rockford in 1962 from Sheffield.  Genet always valued her family above all else.  Her mother lived with her until her passing in 2004.  Her sister, Mary, lived with her until they both were moved into assisted living homes in May of 2020.  Employed at Rockford Products for 27 years.  Besides her job, she enjoyed doing home repairs.  She took pride in being able to fix all things from auto repairs to plumbing issues.  She could do it all if she put her mind to it.  Genet was a very loving woman and a great daughter, sister, and aunt.  She will be missed by anyone who met her primarily because of her great sense of humor.  She rarely crossed paths with anyone she didn’t like.  Survivors include her sister, Mary LaBore of Freeport; niece, Tanya Mead; and great-nephew, Dexter Mead of Indiana.  Predeceased by parents, Willie O. and Ollie P. Sibley; and a brother, Willie O. Sibley, Jr.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday. November 27, 2021, in Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park.  Burial in Oakwood Cemetery, Sheffield, Alabama.  She will be laid to rest alongside her parents and brother.
