Gene Edward Peavler, 59, of Rockford passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2019. Born February 23, 1960, in Rockford, the son of Bobby Lee and Marjorie (Brough) Peavler. Employed as a drywaller and carpenter by Union Local 792 for 14 years and formerly by Rock Solid for 7 years. Gene enjoyed cooking and baking for his family. He loved fishing, camping and especially his annual Father’s Day camping trips. Gene made the best brisket, cherished his grandchildren and never missed a baseball, basketball or football game. He was always there to help fix his families cars. Gene was known to the kids as “papa” and his friends as “Geno”. Papa’s favorite quote was “everything always tasted better when you share.” Survivors include his children, Zachary Gene (Stephanee Glavin) Peavler and Casey Lynn Peavler; grandchildren, Mckynzee, Harmony, Cordae, ZiAir, Eliana and Vincent; brothers, Arthur, Clifton, Joe (Char) and Bobby; sisters, Bobbie, Jennifer, Debbie Kay and Donna; also, the Peavler, Rieffer and Carr clans; former wife, Jody; numerous nieces, nephews and special friends. Predeceased by his parents.
