Gene Edward Giacomelli, 90, of Machesney Park passed away Monday, December 13, 2021, in his home. Born April 10, 1931, in Chicago, the son of Romeo and Mildred (Chedister) Giacomelli. Graduated from Bradley University. Veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Married Sharon K. (Mason) Bradford on June 27, 1986. Employed by General Electric, Ingersoll Milling Machine and owned and operated Dibrasive Company. Life member of Society of Manufacturing Engineers. Member of Venetian Club, American Legion and Peace Lutheran Church. Gene loved golfing, boating, sailing, and traveling. He enjoyed being with his family and loved working in his workshop. Survivors include his wife, Sharon; children, Mike (Barb) Giacomelli and Ann (Steve) Rosenquist; stepchildren, Kathi (Sam) Arnould, Stephanie (Jeff) Ritter and Joel (Traci) Bradford; grandchildren, Julie (Chris), Matt (Olivia), Mike (Angela), Andrea (Anthony), Adam (Caroline), Kelcy (Mike), Alex (Kaylee), Kaelynn, Alyssa, Elizabeth, Jack, Claire, Eva, Nick (Bri), Sean, and Scott; great-grandchildren, Adaline, Felix, Sophia, Wyatt, Jovie, Emery, Lyla, Addison, Aidan, Austen and Avery; nieces, Lynn (Mike) and Sally (Jim) nephew, Ken (Lisa); and faithful canine companion, Eddie. Predeceased by his parents; stepmother, Gladys; sister, Helen; and brother, Ralph. Special thanks to OSF Hospice for their care.
Service at 11 a.m. Friday, December 17, 2021, in Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 502 Orth Road, Loves Park, with visitation from 10 a.m. to service time. Cremation rites accorded.
