ROCKFORD - Gayle E. Vogan, 78, of Rockford, was called home and reunited with Philip E. Vogan, her husband of 52 years, Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015. Born Oct. 27, 1936, in DeKalb, the daughter of Victor and Evelyn (Boyes) Fawcett. Married Philip E. Vogan on June 30, 1956, in DeKalb. Employed as a teacher with the Rockford School District, for over 30 years, retiring in 1992. Later employed by Walmart in the fabric and crafts department for 15 years. Member of Calvary Memorial Church, Sweet Adeline’s and TOPS. Gayle was the music director and Sunday school teacher at Morningside Covenant Church. She enjoyed quilting, crafting and volunteering at the Salvation Army. Survivors include children, Lori Harvel of Rockford, Marci (Jeff) Anderson of Bloomingdale, Mitch (Bobbi) Vogan, Dan Vogan and Jacob Vogan, all of Rockford; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Elaine Grandy and Marilyn Olson; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband; great-granddaughter, Ariah; and daughter-in-law, Renee Vogan.
Service at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14, in Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park, with visitation from 11 a.m. to service time. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established for her son, Jacob.
