Gary Keister

Gary L. Keister, 74, of Machesney Park passed away Saturday, June 9, 2018, in Rockford Memorial Hospital. Born June 23, 1943, in Freeport, the son of Charles and Ruth Keister. Married Barbara S. Holder on July 10, 1982. Retired from Greenlee Manufacturing. After retirement, Gary was employed part-time at Kar Korner. He enjoyed racing at the Rockford Speedway. Gary was known by his friends and fans as #9 Preacher Man and was always in his green Chevy. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys and Yankees fan. He loved to joke with people, especially with his children. Gary is now happy to join his friend, Joe Shear. Survivors include his wife, Barbara; children, Rick (Shelly) Keister, Lori (Matt) O’Haver and Mark (Laura) Mathison; 8 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; siblings, Robert, Don (Iona) and Larry (Karen) Keister, Esther (Randy) Bolen and Delores (Jim) Vincent; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friend, Harold Watson.

Family and friends are welcome to attend the graveside service at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, in Scandinavian Cemetery, 1700 Rural Street, Rockford. Arrangements by Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., of Loves Park.
