Gary Paul Bundick, 68, of Rockford passed away Wednesday, March 31, 2021, in his home. Born November 13, 1952, in Kerrville, Texas, the son of Otho and Dorothy (Kelsey) Bundick. Veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy on the USS Nimitz. Married Dale Watson on March 10, 1981, in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Formerly employed as a nuclear engineer by Combustion Engineering in Hartford, Connecticut, San Onofre in Oceanside, California, Waterford Nuclear Power Plant in Louisiana, Diablo Canyon in San Luis Obispo, California, and retired from Byron (Illinois) Power Plant. Gary tutored his children and their friends in school. He enjoyed golfing, smoking cigars, drinking whiskey, and collecting wine. Gary was very handy, had a great sense of humor, loved to cook, grill, and was known for his omelets. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Dale; children, Veda (Peter) Crochet and Shawn Howard; grandchildren, Shawn Paul, Cheyenne, Max, Aiden “Peanut”, Olivia “Sissy”, Keagan, and Brantley; siblings, Patricia, Phillip, Lois, Dale, Janice, and Keith; numerous nieces and nephews; and close friends, Scott Genschaw and Steve McCarthy. Predeceased by his parents; and brother, Stan.
