Fredrick “Fred” James Fields, 37, of Machesney Park, IL, passed away on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, in his home. He was born on March 21, 1988, in Rockford, IL, the son of James D. and Jean (Karsten) Fields.
Fred graduated from Pecatonica High School and worked for many years as a skilled machinist, most recently at Don’s Welding. He loved to solve problems of all kinds and enjoyed working on automobiles. Fred was a passionate gamer and had been for years. He was also a big fantasy books and movie buff. Lord of the Rings, Star Wars and Star Trek were some of his favorites. He loved cooking, fishing and being outdoors.
Fred was a loyal and trusted friend. He loved all kinds of music, Fred especially loved live music and introducing his friends to his favorite bands. Rehab and D. Jones were two bands that he truly loved and felt their music showed him love in return as it really touched his heart. Fred was strong on the outside but had a very caring and gentle soul.
Survivors include his mother, Jean Fields; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his father and grandparents. Fred will be greatly missed by many, especially his mother, his best friend/chosen brother, Jeff Duggan and his beloved cat, Shadow.
Celebration of Life will be at a later date. Cremation rites accorded. Arrangements by Delehanty Funeral Home, 401 River Lane, Loves Park, IL.
