Fredrick “Fritts” L. Blume, 92, of Machesney Park passed away Friday, July 2, 2021, in his home. Born July 25, 1928, in Rockford, the son of Homer R. and Mina Marie (Klenke) Blume. Attended Harlem High School. Veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the U.S. Army. Married Eva Mae Roush on April 17, 1955, in Loves Park; she passed away November 11, 1965. Fritts then married Bernardine “Dean” J. Semiche on April 29, 1966, in Loves Park; she passed away April 9, 2001. Fritts grew up working with his dad at Blume’s Garage. He later owned and operated A & B Freight Lines. Member of Willow Creek Presbyterian Church, Macktown Golf Association, Roscoe VFW Post 2955, American Legion, Moose Club and Elks Club. Fritts enjoyed golfing, bowling, going out dancing and wintering in Ft. Myers, Florida. He loved old cars and belonged to a few car clubs. Survivors include his children, Greg (Pam) Blume, Deanna (Bob) Yocum, Roger (Gayle) Blume and Linda (Bruce) Thoele; stepdaughter, Gayle Dunn; stepdaughter-in-law, Cindy Conklin; grandchildren, Jason (Erin) Blume, Jordan (Sarah) Blume, Tricia (Sean) Heaslip, Melissa (Matt) Meyer, Brad (Sarah) Yocum, Lisa (Jason) Mair, Ryan (Dani) Blume, Ben (Sara) Thoele, Sarah Thoele and Jake Thoele; 5 step-grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; close friend and companion, Regina Satterly. Predeceased by his parents; wives; brothers, Al Blume and Merv Blume; stepson, Carl Conklin; stepson-in-law, Jack Dunn; and great-grandson, Parker Blume. Private family services will be held at Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park. Inurnment at a later date in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Machesney Park.
