Frederick E. “Fred” Miessler, 79, of Rockford, died in Christ, Monday, November 28, 2016. Fred was born August 8, 1937, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, son of Paul and Hilda (Haertel) Miessler. He graduated from Green Bay West High School in 1955 and very proudly served in the U.S. Navy for four years and the Naval Reserves for an additional four years. After earning an engineering degree at Milwaukee School of Engineering, Fred moved to Rockford, where he met and married his beloved wife, Nancy Werrbach at Concordia Lutheran Church, where they were long-time members. Fred was interested in every type of boat and aircraft, was a proud member of the Naval Airship Association, having flown in airships in the Navy. He also enjoyed reading, walking, canoeing, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He retired from Ingersoll Milling Machine Co. Fred was an avid Green Bay Packer and Cubs fan. He was proud to see the Cubs win the world series. Survivors include his daughters, Barbara (Steve Zantow) King and Debbie (Todd) Spagnoletti; grandchildren, Brock King, Alyssa Spagnoletti, Megan Weidner, Lauren Weidner and Isabella Spagnoletti. Predeceased by his parents; beloved wife, Nancy in 2008; and sister, Nancy (Rev. J. Robert) Koch. Special thanks to the The Atrium Memory Care for their care and compassion.
Service at 11 a.m. Friday, December 2, in Concordia Lutheran Church, 7424 North 2nd Street, Machesney Park, with visitation from 9:30 a.m. to service time. Burial in Argyle Scottish Cemetery.
