Franklin “Frank” H. Zeka, 72, of Rockford, IL, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, June 28, 2024, after a courageous battle with leukemia. Frank was born in Milwaukee, WI, on November 7, 1951, son of Henry and Florence (Johnson) Zeka. He grew up in Cudahy, WI.
He graduated from Cudahy High School and entered the U.S. Army where he served as a Reservist for six years. He worked at Patrick Cudahy Meat Packing Plant until he started his own company, Frank’s Roofing, which later became Tri-County Contracting, in New Berlin, WI. Upon retirement, Frank transferred the company to his sons and sons-in-law. Tri-County has served 40,000 homeowners across southeast Wisconsin for 46 years.
Frank married his true love, Kathryn “Katie” Walecki on August 9,1974. They lived in Wisconsin, where they raised their six children, until they moved to Poplar Grove, IL, in 2019, and then to Rockford in 2021. He will be deeply missed by many survivors, including his wife, Katie; their children, Jessica (Raymond) Jablonski, Joseph (Angela Chapman) Zeka, Charles (Jenny Sodemann) Zeka, Abigail (Nathan) Schouten, Luke Zeka, and Colleen (Samuel) Meils; 17 grandchildren, Nate, Olivia, and Lauren Brome, Nathan, Tyler, and Ashlynn Zeka, Hailey, Ryder, Londyn, Jett, and Sadie Zeka, Theo, Elena, and Maeva Schouten, Cami, Molly, and Owen Meils; sister, Patricia (Jacques) Weber; brother, Robert Burman; and his church family at Calvary Chapel Rockford.
Frank enjoyed biking, hiking, gardening, traveling and woodworking. He loved designing and making intricate wood wall art of landscapes, abstract designs, but mostly beautiful crosses to honor Jesus and share his faith. His biggest passion was his service to the Lord. He served on several church elder boards and taught adult Sunday School classes and hosted Bible studies in his home for many years. He also wrote his own studies on every book of the Bible, consisting of 2,501 studies, which is now being used in other home Bible studies and life groups.
