Frances E. Knight, 78, of Loves Park passed away Sunday, August 6, 2017, in her home. Born June 15, 1939, in Rockford, the daughter of Edwin and Myrtle (Hyser) Stieg. She was raised on a farm by her biological father’s sister Lizzy and Elmer in Union, IL. Frances met Charles J. Knight at the age of 19 and they married on September 27, 1958, in Dubuque, IA. Unknown by her family, not thinking of herself, Frances fought cancer for 6 years. She refused all treatment for herself so she could care for her ailing husband. She enjoyed being a stay at home mother. Her children recall friends leaving their home saying “your mom is so nice”. In later years, Frances worked part-time for a private tax service. She loved her hummingbird feeders and watching the hummingbirds. Frances was close with her sisters, brothers, many cousins and her family. She enjoyed family picnics and road trips. Frances had a special love for dogs. She raised many dogs herself and enjoyed dog sitting for friends and relatives. Survivors include children, Kimberly Anderson, Donald (Christina) Knight and Michael (Gerry Mosher) Knight; grandchildren, Chelsea (Jeff) Erickson, Brett Anderson and Jerry Knight; great-grandchild, Graham Erickson; 4 sisters; 2 brothers; and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents and husband.
Service at 6 p.m. Friday, August 11 in Delehanty Funeral Home Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park, with visitation from 5 p.m. to service time. Burial at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 12, in Greenwood Cemetery, 1011 Auburn Street, Rockford.
