Floyd O. Lanning, 96, of Lakeland, FL, passed away Monday, December 6, 2021. Born August 29, 1925, in Frontenac, KS, the son of Floyd and Pauline (Oliver) Lanning. Veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy. Married Janet Medearis on March 24, 1950, in Bentonville, AK. Member of Local Plumbers and Pipefitters #23 since 1952 and Mason #187 in Pittsburg, KS. He enjoyed boating. Survivors include his wife, Janet Lanning of Lakeland; daughter, Marie (Gerald) Fertig of Rockford, IL; son, Floyd “Pete” Lanning of Pittsburgh, KS.; grandchildren, David Manley, Jean Combs, Amy (Rick) Mitchell, Cathleen Fertig, Mike (Robyn) Lanning, Hope (Brian) Bigelow and Amanda Lanning; great-grandchildren, Alexis Lanning, Trista Lanning, Christian Peterman, Tanner Combs, Riley Combs, Sofia Combs, Piper Mitchell, Avery Mitchell, Brooks Mitchell, Adam Curtis-Dworschak, Benjamin Dworschak, Anna Lanning and Bella Opengo, Dylan Opengo; best friends, Bill, Dianne, and Baby. Predeceased by his son, Jay Dee Lanning.
Service at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 21, 2021, in Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park, with visitation from 10:30 a.m. to service time. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
