Eula “Vi” Violet Bennett, 99, of South Beloit entered eternal life on Wednesday, August 19, 2020, in her home, surrounded by loved ones. She was born on June 8, 1921, in Puxico, MO, to Bert and Stella (Bowers) Elder. She married Garnet “Dutch” Lindel Bennett and had two children, Shirley and Glenda. She worked at Barber-Colman, retiring in 1981. After retirement, Vi and Dutch moved to Clearwater, Florida. After Dutch passed in 1995, Vi returned to Machesney Park, later moving to South Beloit. Vi enjoyed bowling, going to the casino with friends, board games and the Cubs. When the Cubs won the world series, we were sure she woke the neighbors. She loved her “happy hour” at the dinner table every evening with her daughter and granddaughter. She was a true class act, always having her nails polished, her hair done, and her wits about her, right up until the very end. Her life was full of love, laughter, family, and friends. Those that were loved by Vi, knew it and she couldn’t tell you enough. Her gift to all of us was her love, and we will cherish that forever in our hearts. Survivors include her daughter, Shirley Case; son-in-law, Dennis Norder; grandchildren, Colleen (Lenny) Lengrand and Greg (Vicky) Thomas; step-grandchildren, Ellen Granneman, Douglas (Donna) Case, Christine (Steve) Bishop, Jeri Dorman and Ken Fry; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; siblings, LaVern (Sally) Elder, Veda Lechner and Vernice Seratt; several nieces and nephews; and fur baby, Muffin. Predeceased by her husband, Garnet Bennett; daughter, Glenda Norder; son-in-law, Don Case; grandson, James Thomas; and step-granddaughter, Barbara Fry. Special thank you to the Heartland Hospice team, especially Tracy, for their care and compassion.
