Essie Dawson

Essie Lorene Dawson, 95, of Freeport passed away Sunday, January 8, 2017, in Stephenson Nursing Center. Born October 11, 1921, in Ravenden, AR, the daughter of Frank M. and Anna Mae (Brooks) Jones.  Married Truman Dawson on September 24, 1938, in Hoxie, AR; he passed away May 25, 2000.  Employed by Amerock Corporation for 20 years.  Survivors include her sons, Truman L. (Miyo) Dawson and James L. (Diane) Dawson; grandchildren, Brian (Heather) Dawson and Beth (Jason) Schmidtgall; great-grandchildren, Evan, Lauren and Brooke Schmidtgall, Sydney, Tyler and Reagan Dawson; and many nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by her parents; daughters, Shirley Ann Dawson and Anna Louise Stine.

Service at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 14, in Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park, with visitation from 1:30 p.m. to service time. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
