Emily J. Cook, 83, of Machesney Park passed away Wednesday, September 15, 2021, in SwedishAmerican Hospital. Born January 9, 1938, in Success, AR, the daughter of William Clarence and Martha Blanche (Yarbrough) Propst. Married Lester D. Cook on July 9, 1955, in Arkansas. Retired from the J.L. Clark payroll department in 1998. Member of First Baptist Church of Machesney Park since 1960. Emily enjoyed reading, knitting, crocheting, and traveling. She especially loved her trip to Alaska and visiting her son, Rodney, and his family, wherever they were stationed in the Military. Faith was important to Emily, and she loved her church family. Survivors include her daughter, Pam (John) Eyster; son, Rodney (Jodie) Cook; grandchildren, Kevin (Miranda) Eyster, Jessica (fiancé, Kyle Campbell) Miller, Erin Cook, Brandon (Tiffany) Cook and Hayden Cook; great-grandchildren, Samantha Eyster, Isaac Eyster, Riley Miller, Ryan Miller, Cole Miller, Akina Merced, and Hunter Cook; two nieces; three nephews; and many dear friends. Predeceased by her parents; husband; son, Chris; one sister; and three brothers.
Service at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 25, 2021, in First Baptist Church of Machesney Park, 718 Harlem Road, with visitation from 9:30 a.m. to service time. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
