Ellen Ann Osborn

Ellen Ann “Nan” Osborn, 76, of Machesney Park, IL, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Friday, September 23, 2022, at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. Born December 21, 1945, in Rockford, IL. She was the proud daughter of Robert and Virginia (Bowes) Schweiger. Ellen attended St. James Elementary until St. Bridget’s School opened, first inside the Verdi Club and then officially opening in Loves Park, IL, in 1956. She was also a member of Boylan Catholic High School’s Charter Class, graduating in 1964. She met her husband George David Osborn, Jr., at a dance and they married on April 28, 1979. She was employed by Riverside Terrace Nursing Home, where she cared for people with compassion and love. Ellen and George adopted their twin daughters on June 28, 1984, and Ellen dedicated herself as a wife and mother at home. Ellen was a lifelong member of St. Bridget Catholic Church and had a deep faith and love of God. She served the Lord through her service to others, and was well known for her peanut butter cookies, macaroni salad, and never missing a loved one’s birthday or anniversary. Family was at the center of everything she did, and she lived for being a mom, grandma, sister, aunt, cousin and “ya-ya sister”. Her love will live on in the hearts of many, and she will be deeply missed. Survivors include her husband, George; daughters, Shelley (Jacob) Bailey and Shannon (Joshua) Heer; grandchildren, Ian Stupec, Ally Stupec, Makenna Stupec, Bennett Heer, and Brynn Heer; siblings, Linda (Edward) Lynch, Robert (Arlene) Schweiger, Jr., and Georgina (James) Fagan, Jr.; special aunts, Ann Bowes and Betty Bowes; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, loving cousins, and friends. Predeceased by her parents; brother-in-law, Lee Osborn and his wife, Cindy; nephew, Danny Osborn; and great-nephew, Jacob Lorbach.
