Ella Murr

Ella Merlene Murr, 94, of Machesney Park, was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2022, in her home.  Born November 22, 1927, in Erie, TN, the daughter of James A. and Gerlie M. (Schubert) Crabtree.  She met and married the love of her life, Charles H. Murr on August 2, 1947.  They were married for 67 years.  She was an outstanding cook and homemaker feeding half the police force breakfast.  Ella never turned away anyone that needed something to eat.  One Thanksgiving she cooked 21 different desserts so everyone could have their favorite.  Survivors include her children, Fred R. Murr of Machesney Park, Freida (Bob) McCombs of Rock Falls, and Steven (Diane) Murr of Machesney Park; grandchildren, Todd Murr, Trent (Jamie) Murr, Chrissy (CJ) Samorian, Chad Murr, Sarah Murr, Chet Murr; great-grandchildren, Taryn Murr, Emmett Samorian, Averie Samorian, and Eli Stark; special son, Jim (Leonore) Packard; several nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by her parents; husband, Charles on January 27, 2015; and two sisters.  Special thanks to Northern Illinois Hospice, and caregivers, Sherrie, Sandy, and Andrea.

Graveside service at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 19, 2022, in White Rock Cemetery, Kings, IL.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.  Arrangements by Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park, IL.
