Edward "Ed" Blum, Jr.

Edward “Ed” C. Blum, Jr., 84, of Loves Park went to the with his Lord and Savior on Friday, October 9, 2020. The loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather was born on February 6, 1936, in Sauk City, Wisconsin, the son of Edward and Delores (Schroeder) Blum, Sr. Ed graduated from Sauk City High School and shortly afterward relocated to Rockford to begin his 42-year career at Atwood Industries. He was united in marriage to the love of his life Charlene “Char” Frosch on July 17, 1958. Ed was a devout Catholic and longtime member of St. Bridget Catholic Church, where he was an usher and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He also volunteered for lunch preparations at Carpenter's Place for several years. Ed was a loving and caring man who didn't hesitate to lend a helping hand. He was a diehard Packer and Cubs fan who wore his teams proudly. Ed was also an avid bowler and was on countless leagues throughout the past 60+ years. He enjoyed working outdoors, keeping a beautiful lawn and flower beds. He was a very special man and will be dearly missed. Survivors include his loving wife, Charlene; special mother-in-law, Alma; children, Corey Blum, Jeff (Tanya Rose) Blum, Wendy (Mike Moffitt) Wood, and Randy Blum; grandchildren, Nichole, Dan, Rachel, Alex, Dylan, Triana, and Craven; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Adika, Ariah, and Riley; sister, Carol (Don) Mack; brother, Steve (Ellen) Blum. Predeceased by his parents; brother, Eric; sister-in-law, Sharon Booth; and son-in-law, Roger Moffitt. The family would like to thank everyone for all their love and support.

Walk through visitation with face coverings and social distancing required from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday, October 17, 2020, in Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park. Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, in St. Bridget Catholic Church, 600 Clifford Ave., Loves Park. Cremation rites accorded. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are appreciated to St Bridget Catholic Church or Carpenter's Place.
