Edna M. Lighthart, 68, of Rockford passed away suddenly Saturday, December 26, 2020, in University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin. Edna was born September 28, 1952, in Chicago, Illinois. Her heart held so much love for all the kids she cared for during her 42-year nursing career at Walter Lawson Children’s Home. She was always thankful for her AA family she met through her 34-years of recovery. In addition to her nursing license, she was very proud to hold certifications for therapeutic massage and bodywork since 2002 and Reiki I, II, III, and IV since 2003. Edna also enjoyed helping people find their dream home with a realtor license she held. She was an avid shooter and very proud of her concealed carry license. She never left home without it! Edna loved gardening and growing her own herbs and vegetables. Traveling was a new favorite hobby for her with the most recent being an Alaskan cruise. She will be deeply missed by her sons, Rick (Leslie) Orlando, James Orlando, Casey Lighthart and Justin Lighthart; grandchildren, Lauren Ginn, Mandy (Shane) Keen, Lindsey Hearn, Coyo Lighthart, Kya Lighthart, Masin Lighthart, and Savanna Ethridge; great-grandchildren, Alexandria Bunting and Joshua Garcia; sisters, Linda (Mike) Morrison and Mari Hanson; and all of her extended family. She was predeceased by John “Big John” Lighthart. Special thanks to the team of the cardiothoracic Drs and nurses at UW Madison Hospital for their compassion and heroic efforts.
A celebration of life will be at a later date. Cremation rites accorded. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family. Arrangements by Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park.
