Dwayne F. Messman, 89, of Rockford died Friday, May 20, 2016, in his home. Born August 7, 1926, in Freeport the son of Elmer and Viola (Fleugal) Messman. Veteran of The U.S. Marine Corps, serving during WWII in the South Pacific during the battle for Iwo Jima and served in the Korean Conflict. Married Dorothy D. Dailey on October 2, 1948, in Rockford. Former owner of Superior Rockford Co., Rock River Sales and Service Co. and Countrywide Trucking Co. Currently owned and operated TMC Services. Survivors include son, Michael (Lynda) Messman; daughter, Rebecca Bowman; grandchildren, Melissa (Trey) McMorris, Stuart (Heather) Messman, Christa (Louie) Hill, Becky Chase, Corey (Amy) Bowman and Brittany (Michael) Engelen; great-grandchildren, Parker, Allie, Chase, Addison, Corey Jr., Eric, Logan, Lila, Camden, Reese, Ava, Gia and Bailey; several brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents; wife; son, Timothy; and daughter, Leslie Taylor.
 
 Service at 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 24, in Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park, with visitation from 2 p.m. to service time. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
