Douglas G. Hersey, 74, of Caledonia passed peacefully Wednesday, March 15, 2017, with family by his side. Born November 26, 1942, in Chicago, the son of Douglas G. and Louise V. (Shaw) Hersey. Graduated from Harlem High School, Class of 1960. Veteran of the Vietnam conflict, proudly serving in the U.S. Navy for 6 years. Married Nancy Hough on October 9, 1965, in Rockton. Retired from Hilander Foods / Kroger as a meat cutter, after more than 40 years. Devout member of Grace Lutheran Church where he was past president of the church council. Avid fisherman and NASCAR fan. He loved being a Grandpa and enjoyed trips to their Florida home. Survivors include his wife, Nancy; son, Curtis (Tammy) Hersey and their children, Austin, Hayden, Damien and Marissa; and son, Kevin (Aimee) Hersey and their son, Richard. Predeceased by his parents and brother, Richard.
Service at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 23, in Grace Lutheran Church, 343 Grand Ave., Loves Park, with visitation from 10 a.m. to service time. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Grace Lutheran Church. Arrangements by Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., Loves Park.
