Dorothy Allton-Carlson

Dorothy Irene Allton-Carlson, 96, of Loves Park passed away Saturday, May 22, 2021, in SwedishAmerican Hospital.  Born November 19, 1924, in Irene, IL, the daughter of Raymond Mckinley and Blanche Marie (Roach) Banks.  Graduated with an RN degree from St. Anthony in 1945 and a bachelor’s degree from College of St. Francis in 1979.  Married Ralph E. Allton on July 3, 1948, in Belvidere; he died in September 13, 1976.  Married Gerald Carlson in Cherry Valley; he died in December 2006.  Dorothy started her career at Highland Hospital and Swedish American Hospital.  Later employed as a nurse by the Harlem School District for 15 years, retiring in 1986.  Member of Cherry Valley united Methodist Church.  She enjoyed crocheting.  The love of her life was spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Survivors include her sons, Charles (Vickie) Allton, Gregory (Karin) Allton and Douglas (Carla) Allton; daughter, Lisa (Dan) Jacobson; stepdaughter, Linda (Jim) Whale and family; grandchildren, Sara (Mark) Henderson, Laura (Bart) Bloese, Adam Allton, Hillary Allton, Alison (Nick) Russo, Austin (Hannah) Allton, Jeff Jacobson, and Kyle Jacobson; great-grandchildren, Juliana Henderson, Emilie Henderson, Anna Bloese, Elijah Bloese and Delaney Russo; sister, Catherine M. Johnson.  Predeceased by her parents; husbands; and daughter, Bette Rae Allton in 1949.

Service at 3 p.m. Thursday, May 27, 2021, in Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park, and livestreamed on Delehanty Facebook.  Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to service time.  Private family burial in Flora Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials to Cherry Valley Methodist Church or American Cancer Society.
