Doris Louise (Anderson) Soderberg, 97, of Rockford, IL, passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2024. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother. Doris was born on September 14, 1927, at her parent's home, in Rockford, the 6th child of John and Edith (Swenson) Anderson. We were honored recently to celebrate her 97th birthday.
Doris loved her family and spoke often of them. Her siblings entered her into a beauty contest at Camp Grant, in Rockford, in 1946. Of the 200 entries Doris won 1st place. She graduated from East High School in Rockford, in 1946. She married the love her life, LeRoy M. Soderberg, Sr., on April 4, 1947, at the Old Stone Church in Rockton, IL. Doris and LeRoy were married for 68 years, prior to his passing in 2015.
Doris enjoyed outdoor activities, camping at Castle Rock in Wisconsin was one of her favorite destinations, family also enjoyed numerous other camping destinations in the United States. Doris was busy, raised six children but managed to find time to do ceramics, coloring, and various art projects. She loved to play Yahtzee, Uno, and was a very competitive bingo player. She enjoyed music and singing. Her greatest passion was raising and spending time with her children. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Rockford.
Survivors include her son, John (Kim) Soderberg; daughters, Marlene Soderberg, Darlene (Steve) Leighty, and Monica (George) Enstrom; son, Steve Soderberg; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Predeceased by her parents, John and Edith Anderson; 6 siblings; husband, LeRoy M. Soderberg, Sr.; son, LeRoy “Wink” M. Soderberg, Jr.; daughter-in-law Darlene “Deedee” Soderberg; and grandson, Paul Leighty.

Per Doris’s request, private services were held with burial in Arlington Memorial Park, Rockford. Arrangements by Delehanty Funeral Home, 401 River Lane, Loves Park, IL. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
