Donna Swanson

Donna J. Swanson, 78, of Loves Park passed away Wednesday, July 19, 2017, in Medina Manor Nursing Center, Durand. Born April 24, 1939, in Rockford, the daughter of Roger and Jannett (Abernathy) Beck.  She attended secretary school and modeling school.  Married James Swanson in 1968.  She loved her children, people, helping others, animals and nature.  Donna enjoyed playing bingo, the lotto and knew everyone’s birthday.  She had a lot of faith and was known for her saying, “My life is my faith and my faith is my life, without it I would crumble.”  Survivors include her son, Rick Derrickson; daughter, Joy (fiancé, Dave Block) Fields, Laurie (John) Mason and Peggy Davis; 10 beloved grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.  Predeceased by her husband and her brother, Glen Nichols.  Special thanks to Northern Illinois Hospice.

Memorial service at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 25, in Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park, with visitation from 10 a.m. to service time. Private inurnment in Arlington Memorial Park.  In lieu of flowers, memorials to Northern Illinois Hospice.
