Donna Lou Leason, 72, of Rockford, passed away Friday, July 1, 2016, after a brief illness. Born Sept. 3, 1943, in Rockford, the daughter of Donald P. and Laura (Wilson) Severson. Married James Leason on September 16, 1961, in Loves Park. Employed by Eagle Foods as a cashier, retiring in 2003, after 36 years. Member of Grace United Methodist Church. Active at Harlem Methodist Church for many years. Past Queen of the Daughters of Nile, Alabet Temple #31. Associate member of Alabet Temple 113. Volunteer at OSF Saint Anthony and Midway Village. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society. Survivors include husband, James; daughter, Andrea (Chris) Maggio; grandchildren, Stephen Maggio, Stephanie (Jose) Ayala, Alison Maggio; sisters, Pamela (Willie) Powers, Kim Wescott; sister-in-law, Mary Penhallegon; and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents and son, Brad.
Service at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, July 7, 2016, in Grace United Methodist Church, 3555 McFarland Road, Rockford. Burial in Harlem Cemetery. Visitation from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2016, in Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park. Memorials to the Shriner’s Hospital or Grace Methodist Church.
