Donald “Don” Rubendall, 85, of Rockford passed away Saturday, April 7, 2018. Born March 5, 1933, in Freeport, the son of Adam and Addie (Musser) Rubendall. Veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the U.S. Army. Married Kathryn A. Penticoff on December 5, 1953, in Freeport. Owner of D&R Maintenance for over 50 years, retiring in 2015. Lifetime member of Loves Park Veteran of Foreign Wars, Post 9759. Member of the Masons and United Commercial Travelers. Don also volunteered with the North Park Fire Department. Survivors include his children, Dianne Campbell, Mary (Jim) Stukenberg, Rick (Julie) Rubendall, Randy (Sally) Rubendall and Brenda Rubendall; grandchildren, Tracy (Eric) Popper, Aaron Campbell, Nicole (Chuck) McClenthen, Melissa Ratzlaff, Mary (David) Hutson, Christina (Tony) Harbison, Ricky Rubendall, Jr., Jay (Sara) Rubendall, Lisa (Robby) Jimenez and Lindsey Rubendall; great-grandchildren, Jack Popper, Quinn McClenthen, Julia (Luke) Stuck, Trinity Swan, Derrick Lester, Makayla Harbison, David Hutson II, Morgan Hutson, Alex Rubendall, Hailee Kerr, Heidi Rubendall, Kai Rubendall and Finn Rubendall; great-great-grandchildren, Kyle and Nariah. Predeceased by his wife.
Service at 11 a.m. Monday, April 16, in Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park, with visitation from 10 a.m. to service time. Burial in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
