Donald T. McDonald, 91, of Rockford was reunited with his wife on Thursday, March 30, 2017. Born December 29, 1925, in Sioux City, Iowa, the son of Glen T. and Florence E. (Dieckbernd) McDonald. Veteran of the U.S. Navy. Married LouElla M. Hoffman on June 15, 1946, in Rockford. Employed by Interstate Periodicals for more than 20 years, retiring in 1987. He loved spending time with family, woodworking and was an avid golfer. Survivors include his sons, Glen (Kathryn Mund) McDonald and Marty (Tammy) McDonald; daughter-in-law, Janie (Joe) Larkin; grandchildren, Todd McDonald, Stacey (Dean) Smetana, Jennifer (Jeremy) Sturges, Michele (Dan) St. Clair, Chad (Amy) McDonald, Hayley (Jake) Boone, Carrie (Brian Howe) McDonald and Kyle McDonald; great-grandchildren, Ryne and Quinn St. Clair, Rachel and Ethan Smetana, Whitney, Zach and Logan Sturges, Trey and Kyra McDonald, Olivia Howe, Brice and Kyla Boone; brother, Mick (Karen) McDonald; numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his wife; son, Michael; daughter-in-law, Patricia McDonald; sisters, Margaret Hobson and Betty Krapf; and brothers, Ken (Dot) McDonald and Robert MacDonald. Service at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 4, in Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park, with visitation from 10 a.m. to service time. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
